Me-Made-May: Day 9

This is the first time I have worn my red and pink plaid dress because I don't love it (and also it is too big at the waist for me). I made it back in January for the Pink and Red contest. Otherwise I would not have chosen this fabric.

I think it is cute but I feel a little ridiculous in it. I used Burda pattern 7831 for the top (but I changed the shape of the neckline, got rid of the collar, and sewed on a ruffle) and added a full circle skirt to it. Why didn't anybody ever tell me how great circle skirts are to sew?! I cut a hole in the centre of the skirt roughly the size of the waist of the bodice. I really wasn't measuring precisely or anything. And they fit together perfectly! It was like magic!

So I wore this to work today with my plain black leggings, my black and white belt (I think I should make another belt, the same but with a black buckle) and my aubergine cardigan.

  1. I think you are being a bit hard on yourself because the dress is gorgeous! And it fits you perfectly! I like the combination with the belt and the leggings! If I were you I would wear it non-stop!

  3. You shouldn't feel ridiculous in it, it looks great. Circle skirts are fun until you have to hem them and then it's just a pain.
